The 20th Library of Congress National Book Festival

After a fantastic experience last year sharing content with book-loving communities nationwide, PBS Books is honored to announce its current partnership with the Library of Congress for their 20th National Book Festival. This year, LOC’s annual book festival with the theme “Open A Book, Open the World” will be a 10-day event, held from September 17-26, 2021. The festival includes a 60-minute PBS Books special exploring the many worlds authors create, investigate, and share. Hosted by LeVar Burton, the special will premiere on Sunday, September 12, from 6-7pm ET (Check your local listing). Additional PBS feed dates are Saturday, September 18 at 7pm ET, and Sunday, September 19 at 1:30pm ET (more details to follow). Expect diverse discussions from incredible guests like Angie Thomas, Tana French, Viet Thanh Nguyen, and Michael J. Fox.

Leading up to this exciting special, PBS Books is also developing a second series of virtual author talks with ten legendary authors of our time. Look forward to these events – and learn more about both the featured talent and activities in the upcoming festival. A National Book Festival PBS Books book list will be shared with libraries and bookshops in early August.

Any interested partner will be able to find these events on the PBS Books Facebook page, YouTube page, and our website starting on livestream and recorded for later viewing.
